TheLadders was founded in July of 2003 by Marc Cendella and Alexandre Douzet. Cendella and Douzet wanted to help fill a gap that was left by other job recruitment websites. At the time, very few resources existed for high end employment. The result of their efforts are the refined, detailed service offered by TheLadders. The current team includes President Douzet, CEO Cenedella, Head of Human Resources Kevin McManus, Managing Director Habib Khoury and Vice President of Product Eric Burd.

TheLadders website uses a professional blue and white color scheme, accented by the occasional green button. The stylish logo is simple but effective, featuring the website name in blue divided by a line that looks somewhat like a step. Five blue links at the top of the page help users navigate through the site. A job search tool is available in the blue header as soon as the user arrives. Color images of people are also scattered throughout, adding a personal touch to the otherwise clean, professional design.
A new user can join TheLadders by clicking the red and white “Join Now!” button found in the upper, right hand corner of the website. Along the left hand side of the following page, users can learn about the two membership options. The right hand side contains the registration form. The form asks for a first and last name, email address, password, postal code, the user’s earnings in 2010, a start date for a new job and the user’s field. The user must also select the radio button that corresponds with the account type they would like to continue.
TheLadders offers two membership types to users. The first is a free Basic membership which allows users to preview $100k plus job titles, access industry career advice and receive new job updates via email. The premium paid membership includes a dedicated job search advisor who provides advice and assistance, a detailed resume critique, recruiter follow features and the ability to view and apply to $100k plus jobs. The premium membership costs around $35 per month. Users can also pay for longer periods to receive discounts. Three months costs approximately $75, six months costs around $120 and one year costs around $180.
TheLadders is a helpful tool for anyone who is seeking a high paying job. The user is asked for their past year income so only those who have the skills and background to take on these positions can access them.
